The Siberian Tiger

APEX brings together images of the planet’s great predators and the numbers that define their continued existence. Each work is titled with the estimated population still living in the wild, allowing image and data to occupy the same space. Power is present, but it is no longer absolute.

The apex is approached as a fragile condition. A position where dominance becomes exposure and survival depends on balance rather than force. These animals appear less as rulers of ecosystems and more as precise indicators within complex systems. Their vulnerability reflects a larger instability beneath the visible surface.

The paintings are built through multiple layers of paint and recurring patterns. As forms begin to dissolve, familiar figures give way to underlying structures. Repetition, grids, and fragmented rhythms hint at hidden frameworks shaping existence, echoing both natural systems and digital logic. Reality appears momentarily transparent, as if the image were revealing the code beneath it.

“We are not afraid of predators, we’re transfixed by them, prone to
weave stories and fables and chatter endlessly about them, because
fascination creates preparedness, and preparedness, survival.
In a deeply tribal way, we love our monsters…”

E. O. Wilson
